A Little About Debé
Artisanal Mixed Metal Jewelry Inspired by Vancouver Island’s Natural Beauty
My name is Debé, and I’m a Canadian jewelry artist originally from the East Coast. After living in New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Cape Breton Island, I eventually made my way to the West Coast. Since 2017, I’ve called Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island home — a place that inspires much of my work.
My journey into jewelry began in 2009 when I discovered wire wrapping and became captivated by the process of transforming metal into wearable art. Since then, I’ve immersed myself in both modern and ancient techniques including forging, fold forming, repousse, enameling, etching, and soldering.
Today, I create distinctive mixed metal jewelry from my tranquil home studio, working with sterling silver, copper, brass, steel, and vibrant torch- and kiln-fired enamels. I’m continually exploring new combinations of textures, colors, and patterns that reflect the island’s rugged coastlines, lush forests, and vibrant marine life.
Each piece is handcrafted with care, balancing timeless design with lasting comfort. Whether it’s a bold enamel pendant or a delicate pair of copper earrings, my jewelry is designed to be both meaningful and wearable — art that tells a story and becomes part of yours.
